Both work very well for my needs, though the latter is a bit frustrating when it comes to user interface. I use Paint Shop Pro for image editing, and RawTherapee for RAW file conversion. It's too costly for my needs, and I'm not crazy about the interface. Open a folder of photos, select the ones you want to rename, right-click (or hold down the Control key and click) the group and choose Rename Number Items from the contextual menu. Press tab to move to the next photo or select another one with your mouse. With Adobe Bridge open on your screen, navigate to the folder on your computer containing the images you want to rename. To rename a single photo just single-click on the file name and type the new name. In Bridge at least, you can save the old filename within the image and restore it. Step 1: Select The Images You Want To Rename. Navigate to your path where you need to rename the file by type cd and the path. My guess (not verified) is that Lightroom 2 and 3 and Bridge CS3 offer the same, LR maybe even more. How to rename file using command line: Searching on windows the cmd name an open as administrator. The File Naming panel of the Export dialog when you want to rename the copies you’re exporting. There are at least rename offerings including aperture and exposure not sure right now about camera model. The Library>Rename Photos menu in the Library module when you want to rename a batch of photos. Thanks, I'll give XnView a try, though AmoK Exif Sorter seems to do exactly what I need and is extremely easy to use.Īctually, it is not impossible in Bridge CS4 (part of Photoshop CS4) too. I guess in the English version the command would be called "Tools - Batch Rename". I'm using it all the time (although i personally only take the Exif date of capture for the file name, but anything else can be used as well). You can use any Exif data for the file names, with any characters to separate the entries. Try freeware XnView, available for Win and Mac.
